ARITHMOS COO to Present on ePRO/EDC Integration for BIAS

Verona, Italy (13 Jan 2012) – ARITHMOS Chief Operating Officer, Stefano Piccoli, is participating in the SSFA and BIAS Seminar on "PRO and ePRO in Clinical Trials" in Milan, Italy on 16 January. The seminar is being hosted by two Italian organizations - Società di Scienze Farmacologiche Applicate and Biometristi dell'Industria Associati - which focus on the pharmaceutical and clinical trial environment in Italy. Stefano is presenting ePRO and eCRF integration using case study examples from ARITHMOS' extensive work in this area.

Stefano is presenting on the importance and the benefits of integrating electronic Patient Recorded Outcomes (ePRO) and electronic Case Report Forms (eCRF) with Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems. The presentation will focus on what is needed to integrate systems and what devices are best for patient compliance and electronic data submission.

The timing of the "PRO and ePRO in Clinical Trials" is relevant due to developments in the ePRO market, especially concerning devices. Stefano is also focusing his presentation on the shift from ePRO to iPRO and how the iPad is an effective device for collecting data due to its intuitive nature and the accessibility of "apps" for health references. The iTunes store has over 7.000 health-related apps.

ARITHMOS is presenting at the seminar because of its expertise in data integration. The second part of Stefano's presentation will focus on case study examples of ARITHMOS' work in ePRO device integration with EDC systems. ARITHMOS has worked with its CRO partner, CROS NT, on ePRO integration using a spirometric device in a respiratory phase III study with over 2.000 patients in 175 sites and 14 countries. Additionally, ARITHMOS has experience working with smartphones and tablets including the Blackberry and the iPad and is currently working on a study with ePRO and EDC integration for the iPad.

ARITHMOS SUCCESSFULLY INTEGRATES ORACLE AERS AND ORACLE BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE

ARITHMOS has been investing in technology developments to meet the needs of the pharmacovigilance market. Led by Head of Health Science Services, Silvia Gabanti, ARITHMOS has successfully integrated Oracle AERS and Oracle Business Intelligence, an investment in outsourced pharmacovigilance work which requires the need to access real-time data and results.

As an Oracle Business Process Outsourcing Partner for the life sciences industry, ARITHMOS can use and understand Oracle applications to offer a premium value package to its clients.

The proposed solution by ARITHMOS is an integration of the Oracle 9i database with Oracle Business Intelligence Standard One edition which creates an Oracle interactive dashboard that allows companies to constantly access data and results. ARITHMOS has identified the following user requirements:
- Accessibility to live data anytime, anywhere in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Aggregated data; the ability to navigate, modify and interact with results
- A flexible platform and an easy-to-use interface

The integration of Oracle AERS and Oracle Business Intelligence was designed to meet a specific need in the pharmacovigilance market: to provide a user-friendly platform that allows access real-time access to structured data. In October, ARITHMOS also successfully integrated Oracle Business Intelligence with the iPhone and the iPad, making data and results instantly available via an "app" and a WIFI connection.

ARITHMOS and its Contract Research Organisation partner, CROS NT, are investing in the future of the pharmacovigilance market. CROS NT began offering pharmacovigilance services in 2008 including safety management plans, Serious Adverse Effects (SAE) reporting and Safety Database Services.

DIA EuroMeeting

Oracle Health Sciences User Group Conference (OHSUG)
